As the Technical Director for Student Activities I am responsible for the production of entertainment, educational and cultural programs in venues ranging from 90,000 to 300 seats. I supervise two full time staff members and 30 student employees. I’m also responsible for the supervision of contract labor and IATSE Stagehands during university productions. I am knowledgeable in all aspects of audio systems and related components, theatrical and concert lighting design, rigging and flying systems and the safety procedures associated with the operation of these systems. I'm responsible for the negotiation for support services from vendors and the supervision and oversight of the design and setup of staging, lighting, sets and backdrops and the audio/video playback systems.

Working within the Department of Student Activities, I co-administer an annual operational budget of $300,000.00. I'm responsible for writing monthly and year-end reports, budget amendments as well as policy, procedure and operation manuals. I am responsible for researching and proposing the purchases of new equipment and upgrades for existing and new facilities. I advise more than 400 student, faculty and staff organizations and university departments concerning their programs and events. I'm responsible for the technical operation of the Tate Student Center Theater and the maintenance of the 35mm, 16mm and video projectors as well as the Dolby sound systems and related equipment. I program, maintain and operate the BSS Sound Web digital audio systems in the Tate Student Center. I operate the web servers and design the sites that support Technical Services. These include our web site as well as a discussion forum for the dissemination of work schedules to student technicians. I am responsible for the training of student technicians in the areas of lighting, sound, computer operation and 35 and 16mm film projectors. I also am responsible for student training in Customer Service and trouble shooting problems.

I operate the digital audio devices and special FX light show for sports and entertainment events held in the 11,000 seat UGA Stegeman Coliseum. I utilize a moving light system consisting of a Jands Hog500 controller, 6 Cyberlights, 6 XSpots and 4 Lycian 2K Spotlights. I “call” the show cues for sound, lights & video. I schedule and supervise 8 spotlight operators and 2 audio technicians and am responsible for the maintenance and programming of the lights.

As a tour manager I was responsible for the daily operation of a large music tour production, entailing the scheduling, accommodations and finances for the artists, their crew, the truck drivers and the bus drivers. My responsibilities included the performance settlement, petty cash flow and overall tour accounting. I was responsible for administering the insurance carnet and work permits for international tours. I acted as liaison between the management/record company and the band for the scheduling of radio and record promotions and the coordination of daily press and interviews. As sound engineer I was responsible for the load-in, setup and operation of FOH systems.

I am a recording engineer, producer and audio mastering professional with many albums to my credit. I use both Mac and PC systems to operate software such as Pro Tools, Wavelab, Cuebase and Waves plugins.
